FAQ

What is Venetian plaster?

Venetian plaster is a decorative lime-and-marble finish applied in thin layers and burnished by hand. The surface has visual depth and, when polished, a soft marble-like sheen. It is a mineral coating, not a painted effect.

What is Marmorino?

Marmorino is a traditional Italian mineral plaster related to Venetian work. It is typically a little more matte and architectural — still marble and lime, with movement and tactility, often chosen for larger planes and contemporary rooms.

What is the difference between Venetian plaster and limewash?

Venetian plaster and Marmorino are built in layers and can be burnished to a denser, more stone-like surface. Limewash is a thinner lime finish that stains and clouds the wall with softer, more atmospheric movement. Both are breathable mineral systems; they simply occupy different places on the spectrum from polish to wash.

How much does Venetian plaster cost?

Cost depends on substrate condition, height and access, number of coats, color complexity, and the finish specified. We do not publish a fixed price list. Every project begins with a complimentary estimate after we understand the room.

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes. Every project begins with a complimentary consultation and estimate.

Can you help choose the right color?

Yes. Color is judged in the room’s light. We can work from your palette, designer samples, or the Marmorino library on this site, then refine on a physical board.

Can you create samples before starting?

Yes. Samples are part of a serious decorative plaster project. They let you approve tone and texture before the wall is committed.

How long does a project take?

A feature wall may take a few working days including dry time. Full rooms and complex colors take longer. Lime needs patience; we will give a schedule with the estimate.

Do you work with interior designers and contractors?

Yes. We regularly collaborate with designers, builders, and homeowners, and can work from specified finishes or help develop them.

Do you work on residential and commercial projects?

Yes. Residences, remodels, new construction, and selected commercial interiors across Greater Seattle.

Do you serve areas outside Seattle?

The primary service area is Greater Seattle, including Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Mercer Island, Renton, Kent, Newcastle, and surrounding communities. Projects farther afield are considered case by case.
